A stunning late Victorian era English breadboard, estimated age 1870-1900.  Made from sycamore and hand carved, this board has a thick, rustic, notched border and a double crumb groove.  The design of this particular breadboard is meant to imitate a pie crust or loaf edge.  The English treated bread as a sacred food in the mid-late 1800's and never let it grace the table without a hand carved sycamore bread board underneath.  Today, they have become a collectors items sought out for both every day use in the kitchen, or for elevating your displays.
